This project begins with a sound wave captured from the human voice to create a listening dish. The recorded sound wave creates the form on the underside of the dish, and is made permanent in cast Iron. The dish is supported by a steel frame that hoists it into the air to position it in front of a viewer to provide an intimate moment of contact, inviting a whisper into the dish to speak aloud doubts, questions, or proclamations that have gone unspoken.
Materials: cast iron, steel, paper, carved wood, milk paint, foil tape.
